We flew over 24 hours today to get to Scotland and it was BRUTAL!! We finished packing at around 3 am. I was already 90% packed I just needed my clean socks but still got maybe 20 minutes of sleep. We flew out of the SLO airport on the 4:30 am flight. I don't think I really want to fly that far again, at least not on Virgin Atlantic…. The flight to Chicago was the best so far, the most comfortable. The Virgin Atlantic flight (which was Chicago to London) took 8 hours, the seats were not as comfortable as one would hope, the in-flight entertainment pretty much sucked, I own all the movies except for Yes Man. I got maybe an hour worth of sleep. But it wasn't all so bad. The food on the flight was actually really good. Normally airplane food is so….sketchy…but this food was not bad at all. I had steak and veggies in a yummy sauce and salad with a great Italian dressing with cheese chunks in it. Dessert was so yummy. They called it sticky toffee cake and it had a Raspberry sauce on it. YUMMY!!!
Well we finally made it to the Aberdeen airport (we changed planes in London to Scotland for another hour flight) but it was still another hour drive to Gardenstown where our house is. Our entire luggage made it all the way to Scotland but getting a rental car here was no easy task. It took 2 hours for them to get us a car big enough for 4 suitcases…..their cars are that small over here…. But as we were driving away from the airport the car started smoking because Marge over did the clutch (seeing has how she hasn't driven a manual in 20 years and was rusty) and stalled a bunch of times. This is why I drive an automatic back home. But we HAD to go back and try and find another car that is big enough and that wasn't going to kill us all. So Noel, Roger and I sat in the hot car for another hour while Marge tried to get a new car but had no such luck. Then we had to figure out how to get to Gardenstown. Marge was so tense and stressed that it stressed us all out. We finally found the town. It is the smallest town I have ever been to. The streets here are so narrow (only room for one car and this town is on a hill.) but it is SO pretty here. We attempted to find a store which there was none and apparently the closest store which was a town over had closed at 7 pm, early. But we got some pizza and we'll eat better tomorrow.
I am so tired. I have just enough energy to finish writing this and then I am going to bed. This house is really nice and the guy was nice enough to let us use his computer so that we can call people on Skype (which I did, I called my mom :D) and check facebook. But its now time for bed so I am off. It is 9:30 here and the sun is still so bright in the sky, we were told it stays up till 11 or 12. Who knows. Off I go!
